How to read the boards
Frontline, ranged, cavalry and anti-shield are separate jobs. A troop in S that costs 4 stars is the wrong pick at an 8-star cap. Mongol battle-pass troops and Morningstar are documented on unit pages instead of ranked, because the public combat notes still disagree.
S tier
Player decision Use it when the star cap can afford 4 and you need a point held. Do not auto-charge it into fresh reinforcements. Block durability was reported cut from 110 to 100 on September 21; recheck the card.
A tier
Player decision Prefer it over a raw shield stack when you still need to move between entrances. Confirm the 3-star cost on the card before you evolve into a cap you cannot afford.
Player decision Best on a single choke where the enemy has to shoot into the shield. Weak choice if you need to chase a flank.
Player decision A frontline buy when you hit the summon, not a troop you evolve toward. Check the rate on the banner you are actually pulling.
B tier
Player decision Correct first frontline while the cap is small. Replace the job, not the whole army, when Sentinel or Imperial Wall fits.
C tier
Player decision Do not chase it ahead of Spartan, Samurai or a finished evolution line unless you like the playstyle. It has no evolution to fix the frailty.
